No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to require the State Commission on Judicial Conduct to include certain information specified in the bill in its annual report, would require the Commission to provide online access to the status of non-frivolous complaints, and would require certain notices and disclaimers to appear on the Commission's website. The bill would require notice of the status of a complaint only when there is a change in status, would require the Commission to publish guidelines for punishment that is proportional to any misconduct, and would require the Commission establish a timeline governing investigation of any complaint. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
