No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Education Code regarding reports related to expulsions and disciplinary alternative education program placements. The bill would require school districts to report to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) information related to student suspensions, and would require the TEA make the information available to the public.
The bill would take effect immediately if passed within the necessary voting margins, or September 1, 2017, and would apply beginning with the 2017-18 school year.
TEA indicates that any any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.
