No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 305 of the Government Code, regarding registration of lobbyists, to prohibit an appraisal district from using public money to directly or indirectly influence or attempt to influence the passage or defeat of any legislation pending before the Legislature. An appraisal district employee would not be prohibited from providing information for a member of the Legislature or appearing before a legislative committee at the request of the committee or the member of the Legislature.
The bill would not affect taxable property values, tax rates, collection rates, or any other variable which might affect the revenues of units of local governments or the state.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
