IN RE:
SB1820 by Burton (Relating to an application for a ballot to be voted by mail.), As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Election code requiring the early voting clerk for the election to deliver a written notice to a voter that submits a duplicate application for ballot by mail. The written notice must be mailed to both the residence address and mailing address provided on the application for ballot by mail, and must state that a ballot to be voted by mail has previously been sent to the voter, and the date that the ballot was sent.
According to the Secretary of State any additional requirements of the bill can be absorbed with existing agency resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
Local Government Impact
According to the Texas Municipal League, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
