LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 12, 2017

TO:
Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1854 by Uresti (Relating to requiring the review of public school district paperwork to limit paperwork requirements.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require each district-level committee to review paperwork requirements imposed on classroom teachers and make recommendations to the district board of trustees not less than once every school year.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2017, or immediately if passed with the necessary voting margins.

Local Government Impact

This bill's provisions would require each district-level committee to prepare a report and make a recommendation to the district board of trustees. TEA estimates these reports could be prepared at nominal cost, but some administrative costs could be incurred depending on the report's requirements.
