FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 6, 2017

TO:
Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1857 by Whitmire (relating to the exchange of certain information between the Department of Family and Protective Services or certain foster care services contractors and a state or local juvenile justice agency.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code relating to the exchange of certain information between the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) or certain foster care services contractors and a state or local juvenile justice agency. Based on the Legislative Budget Board's analysis of DFPS, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

The bill would take effect immediately if it received a two-thirds vote in each house, otherwise the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
