No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require that school district data related to student health and physical activity be published on the Texas Education Agency's (TEA's) web site within one year of being collected. The bill specifies the type of data required to be collected and published.
The bill would take immediate effect if it receives a two-thirds vote of each house of the Legislature. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
TEA estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill.
Local Government Impact
According to TEA, while much of the data required to be reported to TEA by the bill is currently reported, some of the required data elements are not currently reported to TEA. Thus, school districts could incur some costs associated with reporting data that is not required to be reported under existing law but would be required under the bill.
