No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code relating to the declaration of a local state of disaster.  The bill would define conditions relating to an order or proclamation declaring, continuing, or terminating a local state of disaster.  Also includes a provision where presiding officer of a political subdivision may request the governor to waive or suspend certain deadlines if the waiver or suspension is reasonably necessary for the political subdivision to cope with a local declared disaster. 
The bill would take effect immediately if the bill receives a two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise the bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
