IN RE:
SB1944 by Hughes (Relating to the issuance of specialty plates to honor recipients of the Distinguished Flying Cross medal with Valor.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Transportation Code §504.308 to require the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) to issue specialty license plates for recipients of the Distinguished Flying Cross medal with Valor. Under current law, an eligible person would be authorized to apply for of one set of the new specialty plates without payment of the regular vehicle registration fee. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2017.
Based on the information provided by TxDMV, it is assumed implementation of the bill would not result in a significant impact to vehicle registration fee revenue and any additional costs or duties could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
