No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to establish the Texas Peace Officers' Memorial Ceremony Committee to plan, oversee, and facilitate annual ceremonies recognizing and honoring peace officers of this state who were killed in the line of duty. The bill would require the Texas Peace Officers' Memorial Ceremony Committee to plan and coordinate an annual memorial ceremony on the Capitol grounds to honor Texas peace officers who were killed in the line of duty. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed within current resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
