No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Education Code relating to the process by which the University Interscholastic League (UIL) selects locations for statewide UIL competitions. For each activity for which the UIL holds a statewide competition, the UIL would be required to issue a request for proposal for entities that are interested in hosting the competition.
The bill would apply to a statewide competition held on or after September 1, 2018. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
According to the Texas Education Agency and the University of Texas System, duties and responsibilities associated with the bill could be accomplished with existing resources.
