The bill would amend the Election Code eliminating straight ticket voting for judicial offices.
The Secretary of State indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.

According to Dallas County the bill would require Dallas County to purchase additional voting machines and hire additional staff due to the increase in time it would take to vote. Dallas County estimates additional costs from the bill at $855,000.
According to the Texas Association of Counties, no fiscal impact is anticipated.
