FROM:

IN RE:
SB1990 by Watson (Relating to low income housing tax credits awarded for certain developments.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code relating to low income housing tax credits awarded for certain developments. The bill would require the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) to allocate housing tax credits to the highest scoring development that qualifies as a supportive housing project and is located within a certain geographic area. Under the provisions of the bill, TDHCA would establish, by rule, requirements for a supportive housing project to qualify for housing tax credits. The bill would not require TDHCA to award housing tax credits to more than the five highest applicable supportive housing projects.
TDHCA anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
