SB2081 by Taylor, Larry (Relating to information regarding the number of public school students receiving certain special education services.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require each school district and open-enrollment charter school to report through the Public Education Information Management System information regarding the number of students enrolled in the district or school who are covered by Section 504, Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the number of students enrolled in the district or school who are receiving assistance for learning difficulties through the use of response to intervention strategies.

The Texas Education Agency indicates that any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill are not anticipated to be significant.

The bill would take effect immediately if it received a vote of two-thirds of each chamber; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2017.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
