Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on August 13, 2017, and permission granted on August 13, 2017, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Calendars met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Hunter, at 9:25 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Hunter; Howard; Alonzo; Ashby; Cook; Davis, Sarah; Geren; Kacal; King, Ken; Koop; Nevárez; Paddie; Phelan; and Rose.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

Representative Kacal moved to place the following measures: 

 

on the General State Calendar for Tuesday, August 15, 2017:  SB 19.

Representative Ashby moved to adopt the proposed rule for floor consideration on SB 19.

 

Section 1. All original amendments that will be offered during second reading consideration of the bill must be filed with the chief clerk by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017.

 

Section 2. (a) During second and third reading consideration of the bill, the bill may be amended solely for the purpose of lowering the total amount of money appropriated to the retired school employees group insurance fund established under section 1575.301, Insurance Code, for use by the Teacher Retirement System of Texas to decrease the costs for the 2018 and 2019 plan years for participants in the Texas Public School Employees Group Insurance Program authorized by Chapter 1575, Insurance Code.

 

(b) The provisions of this section do not apply to an amendment that makes an adjustment in an item of appropriations solely to correct a technical clerical error.
