Pursuant to a notice posted on May 18, 2018, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Lozano, at 11:40 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Lozano; Raney; Alonzo; Button; Howard; Morrison, Geanie W.; and Turner.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

The committee convened to hear testimony from invited witnesses on Interim Charge 4:

 

Examine efforts of 2- and 4-year institutions to implement innovative and non-traditional models of education delivery to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse student body and the demands of a rapidly changing workforce.  Identify any obstacles to institutional innovation.  Make recommendations to scale innovative educational models to better serve students and employers.
