Pursuant to a notice posted on June 13, 2018, the House Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Gutierrez, at 9:14 a.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Gutierrez; Blanco; Cain; Flynn; Lambert; and Wilson.

A quorum was present.

The Committee met jointly with the House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety to consider the following interim charge.

Examine the experience of other state sin prioritizing retired peace officers and military veterans for school security. Determine the minimum standards necessary to implement such a program.
