Pursuant to a notice posted on November 28, 2017, revised on December 6, 2017, the House Committee on Human Services met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Raymond, at 9:37 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Raymond; Frank; Klick; Miller; Rose; and Wu.

 

A quorum was present.

 

 

The Chair made opening remarks.

 

 

The committee heard testimony on the following interim charge:

Monitor the HHSC's implementation of Rider 219 in Article II of the General Appropriations Act related to prescription drug benefit administration in Medicaid. Analyze the role of pharmacy benefit managers in Texas Medicaid.

Examine the survey process for nursing facilities to determine any duplication of government regulations. Consider recommendations to reduce duplication while ensuring patient safety is preserved.
