Pursuant to a notice posted on June 13, 2018, the House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative King, Phil, at 9:14 a.m.
The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives King, Phil; Burns; Hinojosa, Gina; Johnson, Jarvis; and Metcalf.
A quorum was present.
The committee met jointly with the Committee of Defense and Veterans’ Affairs to hear invited and public testimony on the following interim charge:
Examine the experience of other states in prioritizing retired peace officers and military veterans for school security. Determine the minimum standards necessary to implement such a program.
