Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Business & Commerce was held on Friday, August 4, 2017, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:01 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The chair laid out SB 28 and recognized the author, Senator Taylor, Van, to explain the bill. Senator Nichols was recognized to discuss an amendment to SB 28, sunset bill, that Senator Nichols intends to offer as a floor amendment to SB 28. Senator Nichols was recognized to discuss an amendment to SB 28, sunset bill, that Senator Watson intends to offer as a floor amendment to SB 28. Senator Estes was recognized to discuss an amendment to SB 28, sunset bill, that Senator Estes intends to offer as a floor amendment to SB 28. Witnesses registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Campbell moved that SB 28 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

There was no action taken for the following bill:

Motions in Writing requesting unanimous consent to be shown voting aye were submitted by the following: Senator Schwertner on SB 28; Senator Creighton on SB 28. These votes are reflected in the final votes on the aforementioned bill.

 

There being no further business, at 9:12 AM Senator Hancock moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
