The chair called the meeting to order at 5:40 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business HB 136.

 

Senator Uresti moved that HB 136 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion failed with a record vote of 4 ayes, 4 nays, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent.

 

Senator Van Taylor moved to reconsider to by which HB 136 failed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Larry Taylor moved that HB 136 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business HB 354.

 

Senator Larry Taylor moved that HB 354 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business CSHB 674.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that HB 674 do not pass but that CSHB 674 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion failed with a record vote of 5 ayes, 3 nays, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent.

 

Senator Bettencourt moved to reconsider to by which CSHB 674 failed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Larry Taylor moved that CSHB 674 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business HB 867 as amended.

 

Senator Van Taylor moved that HB 867, as amended, be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent.

 

Senator Bettencourt moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

Senator Lucio, Jr. sent up a committee substitute.  The chair recognized Senator Nichols to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the house bill as engrossed.  Senator Lucio, Jr. moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that HB 1569 do not pass but that CSHB 1569 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 10 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

Senator Bettencourt moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

Senator Lucio, Jr. sent up a committee substitute.  The chair recognized Senator Lucio, Jr. to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the house bill as engrossed.  Senator Lucio, Jr. moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that HB 2263 do not pass but that CSHB 2263 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 8 ayes, 1 nay, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent.
