Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Education was held on Sunday, July 23, 2017, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 4:04 PM. The following business was transacted:

The chair laid out SB 97 and recognized the author, Senator Perry, to explain the bill.

Senator Perry spoke on the intent of the bill.

Roll was called; a quorum was present.

The chair laid out SJR 1 and recognized the author, Senator Burton, to explain the bill.

Witnesses testifying and registering on SB 97 and SJR 1 are shown on the attached list.

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

Senator Larry Taylor moved that SB 97 and SJR 1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

There being no further business, at 5:58 PM Senator Larry Taylor moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
