Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:04 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

Senator Nelson laid out SB 1.

Testimony was heard on SB 1 – Article III.  Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the attached list.

Texas Education Agency

At 10:42 AM Senator Nelson moved that the Committee stand recessed until 30 minutes after adjournment of the Senate. Without objection, it was so ordered.

At 12:38 PM the Committee reconvened.

Testimony continued with the Texas Education Agency.

Higher Education Group Insurance

Windham School District

School for the Blind and Visually Impaired

School for the Deaf

Special Provisions for the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired/Texas School for the Deaf 

Public testimony was heard.

Senator Hinojosa closed public testimony.

Senator Hinojosa moved that SB 1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

There being no further business, at 6:29 PM Senator Hinojosa moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
