Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Border Security was held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, in the Betty King Committee Room at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

The Chair recognized James Crabtree Committee Director to recite the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance and Texas Pledge.

The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Uresti at 1:32 PM and Senator Lucio at 1:48 PM.

Senator Campbell and Members of the Committee introduced staff.

Senator Huffines moved adoption of the committee rules. There being no objection, it was so ordered.

The Chair recognized the following persons to provide invited testimony on the following agencies (see attached witness list):

Department of Public Safety

Health and Human Services Commission

Texas Military Forces

Texas Military Preparedness Commission

Texas Veterans Commission

Texas Veterans Land Board

Texas Workforce Commission

There being no further business, at 3:41 PM Senator Campbell moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
