Amend SB 2432 (house committee printing) by adding the following appropriately numbered SECTION to the bill and renumbering subsequent SECTIONS of the bill accordingly:

SECTION ____. Section 37.006, Education Code, is amended by adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:

(a-1) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), a student may not be removed from class and placed in a disciplinary alternative education program under Subsection (a) unless the principal or another appropriate administrator provides, at least three days before the proposed removal date, an opportunity for a hearing on the grounds for removal for the student and parent or person standing in parental relation to the student.
