AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
In the 83rd Legislative Session, Representative Wayne Smith passed H.B. 1127, which gave Harris County the regulatory authority to combat illegal gambling that was occurring in game rooms.
H.B. 1476 would grant McClennan County the same regulatory authority to better enforce gambling statutes.
H.B. 1476 amends current law relating to the regulation of game rooms in certain counties.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS
SECTION 1. Amends Section 234.132, Local Government Code, as follows:
Sec. 234.132. APPLICABILITY. Provides that this subchapter (Game Rooms) applies only to:
(1)�(7) makes no changes to these subdivisions;
(8) a county that has a population of more than 200,000 and less than 250,000, rather than less than 220,000; and
(9) makes no changes to this subdivision.
SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2019. �
