AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

Currently, members of the Texas State Guard must pay for their own uniforms and equipment used during training and deployments to state-active duty. The typical uniform cost for an individual State Guard member on average is over $300 for shirt, trousers, boots, and headgear.

H.B. 1593 amends Section 437.310(b), Government Code, to give the option for an additional source of funding for the Texas State Guard Uniform and Insignia Fund that will consist of money appropriated, credited, or transferred by the legislature to the fund.

H.B. 1593 amends current law relating to the Texas State Guard uniform and insignia fund.
