AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

Since its passage in 2007, the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) has seen incredible results. Not only has the investment yielded life-saving results, but it has also led to economic benefits that far outpace its cost, with the annual expenditures adding $719.8 million to Texas' gross product, $499 million to personal income, $189 million in retail sales, and an additional $780 million in outside investment toward CPRIT research projects.

H.B. 2570 amends current law relating to the award of grants by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee and to the payment of claims related to those grants by the comptroller of public accounts.
