AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

H.B. 2659 amends current law relating to the use of names by public insurance adjusters.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1. Amends Section 4102.162, Insurance Code, as follows:

 

Sec. 4102.162. USE OF DIFFERENT NAME PROHIBITED. Prohibits a license holder from using a name different from the name under which the license holder is currently licensed in an advertisement, solicitation, or contract for business unless the name is used under a valid assumed name certificate as provided by Chapter 71 (Assumed Business or Professional Name), Business & Commerce Code.

 

SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2019. �
