AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

H.B. 2680 amends current law relating to the student recreational facility fee at The University of Texas at Tyler.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Sections 54.5341(b) and (f), Education Code, as follows:

(b) Prohibits the amount of the recreational facility fee, unless a higher amount is approved under Subsection (f), from exceeding certain limits.

(f) Requires the ballot proposition for an election under this subsection to clearly state the amount of the proposed fee increase and describe the reason for the proposed fee increase.

SECTION 2. Provides that Section 54.5341, Education Code, as amended by this Act, applies beginning with fees imposed for the 2019 fall semester.

SECTION 3. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2019.
