AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
H.B. 2868 amends current law relating to the procurement of interior design services by a governmental entity.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 2254.002(2), Government Code, to include services provided by a person lawfully engaged in interior design, regardless of whether the person is registered as an interior designer under Chapter 1053 (Interior Designers), Occupations Code, in the definition of "professional services."
SECTION 2. Makes application of Section 2254.002(2), Government Code, as amended by this Act, prospective to October 1, 2019.
SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 2019.
