A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the personal use exemption for domestic rabbit meat. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 433.006, Health and Safety Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) Notwithstanding Subsections (a)(1) and (c), this |
|
|
section grants a personal use exemption for an owner who gives or |
|
|
sells domestic rabbit carcasses, parts of carcasses, meat, or food |
|
|
products to any person, including a person not listed in Subsection |
|
|
(a)(1). The exemption is limited to giving or selling carcasses, |
|
|
parts of carcasses, meat, or food products derived from not more |
|
|
than 500 domestic rabbits in any calendar year. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Not later than September 1, 2020, the executive |
|
|
commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission shall |
|
|
adopt rules to implement Section 433.006(d), Health and Safety |
|
|
Code, as added by this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
