A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a state subsidy for the cost of general |
|
|
education |
|
|
development exams for those over the age of 21. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 315.006, Labor Code is amended by adding |
|
|
Subsection (C) to read as follows: |
|
|
(C) The commission shall provide a subsidy to |
|
|
individuals equal to the cost of a general education development |
|
|
(GED) exam for those over the age of 21. This subsidy must be used |
|
|
for the full amount of the general education development (GED) exam |
|
|
administration. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
