A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to certain duties of public institutions of higher
  education and the Department of State Health Services regarding
  policies on the use of epinephrine auto-injectors by public
  institutions of higher education.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 51.882, Education Code, is amended by
  amending Subsection (d) and adding Subsection (f) to read as
  follows:
         (d)  Each institution of higher education that adopts a
  policy under Subsection (a):
               (1)  must require that the institution's campuses have
  personnel or volunteers authorized and trained to administer an
  epinephrine auto-injector present; and
               (2)  shall include the policy in the institution's
  student handbook or similar publication and publish the policy on
  the institution's Internet website.
         (f)  An institution of higher education that adopts a policy
  under Subsection (a) shall submit to the Department of State Health
  Services a copy of the policy and any amendment to the policy
  adopted by the institution.  The department shall maintain a record
  of the most recent policy and amendments submitted by each
  institution under this subsection and shall make that information
  available to the public on request. 
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
