A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to a veterans suicide prevention public awareness
  campaign.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 434.026 to read as follows:
         Sec. 434.026.  VETERANS SUICIDE PREVENTION PUBLIC AWARENESS
  CAMPAIGN. (a)  The Texas Veterans Commission, in collaboration
  with the Health and Human Services Commission, shall develop and
  implement a public awareness campaign to: 
               (1)  increase public awareness of suicide risk factors
  for veterans, including risk factors specific to women veterans;
  and
               (2)  provide information relating to, and increase
  awareness of, suicide prevention services and organizations
  available to veterans, including services and organizations that
  address the needs of women veterans. 
         (b)  In implementing the campaign, the Texas Veterans
  Commission may engage in online advocacy, issue public service
  announcements, and distribute materials that cover the topics
  described by Subsection (a). 
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
