A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the appointment of certain trustees of the Blinn Junior |
|
|
College District. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 130.0827(a), Education Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) Notwithstanding any other law, in addition to the |
|
|
members of the board of trustees of the Blinn Junior College |
|
|
District elected or appointed under other provisions of this |
|
|
subchapter, the commissioners court of each county in which a |
|
|
branch campus of the district with a student enrollment greater |
|
|
than 10,000 is located shall appoint two members to serve on the |
|
|
district's board of trustees. If an advisory committee for a |
|
|
branch campus has been previously established, the members may |
|
|
[must] be selected from the membership of the advisory committee. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 130.0827(d), Education Code, is |
|
|
repealed. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
