A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the prohibition against age discrimination in certain |
|
employment training programs. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 21.101, Labor Code, is amended to read as |
|
follows: |
|
Sec. 21.101. AGE DISCRIMINATION LIMITED TO INDIVIDUALS OF |
|
CERTAIN AGE. The [Except as provided by Section 21.054, the] |
|
provisions of this chapter referring to discrimination because of |
|
age or on the basis of age apply only to discrimination against an |
|
individual 40 years of age or older. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 21.054(b), Labor Code, is repealed. |
|
SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
to conduct that occurs on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
Conduct that occurs before the effective date of this Act is |
|
governed by the law in effect on the date the conduct occurred, and |
|
the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
