A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an annual report concerning the number of inmates who |
|
have been in the conservatorship of a state agency responsible for |
|
providing child protective services. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 501.023(b), Government Code, is amended |
|
to read as follows: |
|
(b) Not later than December 31 of each year, the department |
|
shall submit a report to the governor, the lieutenant governor, |
|
[the speaker of the house of representatives,] and each member of |
|
the legislature and shall make the report available to the public on |
|
the department's Internet website [standing committee having
|
|
primary jurisdiction over the department]. The report must |
|
summarize statistical information concerning the total number of |
|
inmates who have at any time been in the conservatorship of a state |
|
agency responsible for providing child protective services, |
|
including, disaggregated by age, the number of inmates who have not |
|
previously served a term of imprisonment. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
