A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to authorization by the Texas Higher Education |
|
|
Coordinating Board for public junior colleges to offer |
|
|
baccalaureate degree programs. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 130.302, Education Code, as added by |
|
|
Chapter 766 (S.B. 2118), Acts of the 85th Legislature, Regular |
|
|
Session, 2017, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 130.302. BACCALAUREATE DEGREE PROGRAMS; GENERAL |
|
|
AUTHORIZATION. The coordinating board may authorize public junior |
|
|
colleges to offer baccalaureate degree programs in any field as |
|
|
provided by this subchapter. Offering a baccalaureate degree |
|
|
program under this subchapter does not otherwise alter the role and |
|
|
mission of a public junior college. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Sections 130.303(b) and 130.306(a) and (b), |
|
|
Education Code, as added by Chapter 766 (S.B. 2118), Acts of the |
|
|
85th Legislature, Regular Session, 2017, are repealed. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
