A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the creation of a disaster case management system by the
  General Land Office.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter H, Chapter 418, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 418.193 to read as follows:
         Sec. 418.193.  DISASTER CASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. (a)  The
  General Land Office shall develop and maintain an electronic
  disaster case management system.  The system must:
               (1)  collect all information needed to obtain disaster
  assistance from an individual who needs housing-related assistance
  as a result of a disaster; and
               (2)  allow the individual to designate the entities to
  which an application for assistance and other information may be
  sent, including the General Land Office, organized volunteer
  groups, and local nonprofit organizations.
         (b)  The General Land Office may coordinate with federal,
  state, and local agencies and nongovernmental entities, including
  private nonprofit organizations, for use of the system under
  Subsection (a) to gather data from and share information with and
  between those entities to streamline applications submitted by
  individual households to relevant disaster assistance providers.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
