AN ACT
|
|
relating to the recording of a criminal offense of transporting |
|
household goods without registration in a driving record. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 643.253, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
by adding Subsections (g) and (h) to read as follows: |
|
(g) As soon as practicable after the date a person is |
|
convicted of an offense under Subsection (b), the convicting court |
|
shall notify the Department of Public Safety of the conviction. The |
|
notice must be in a form prescribed by the Department of Public |
|
Safety and must contain the person's driver's license number. |
|
(h) A conviction under Subsection (b) shall be recorded in |
|
the person's driving record maintained by the Department of Public |
|
Safety. |
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
to an offense committed on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
An offense committed before the effective date of this Act is |
|
governed by the law in effect on the date the offense was committed, |
|
and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. For |
|
purposes of this section, an offense was committed before the |
|
effective date of this Act if any element of the offense was |
|
committed before that date. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
