A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to school district use of relocatable educational |
|
|
facilities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 11, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 11.005 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 11.005. USE OF RELOCATABLE EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES. |
|
|
(a) In this section, "relocatable educational facility" has the |
|
|
meaning assigned by Section 1202.004, Occupations Code. |
|
|
(b) This section applies only to a school district in which: |
|
|
(1) the district's administrative offices are located |
|
|
in a building that is not a relocatable educational facility; and |
|
|
(2) student instruction takes place in a relocatable |
|
|
educational facility. |
|
|
(c) A school district subject to this section shall: |
|
|
(1) move the district's administrative offices to a |
|
|
relocatable educational facility; and |
|
|
(2) convert the building in which the district's |
|
|
administrative offices were located into classrooms for student |
|
|
instruction. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
