A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a study conducted by the Texas Department of |
|
|
Transportation regarding the transportation needs of the Middle Rio |
|
|
Grande region of this state. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Department of Transportation |
|
|
shall conduct a study to assess the long-term transportation needs |
|
|
of the area served by the Middle Rio Grande Planning Region council |
|
|
of governments. |
|
|
(b) The study must consider how transportation needs of the |
|
|
area relate to economic development, commuter safety, traffic |
|
|
congestion, and homeland security. |
|
|
(c) Not later than January 1, 2021, the Texas Department of |
|
|
Transportation shall submit a report on the results of the study to |
|
|
the governor, the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of |
|
|
representatives, and the presiding officer of each standing |
|
|
committee of the legislature with jurisdiction over transportation |
|
|
matters. |
|
|
(d) This Act expires January 31, 2021. |

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
