AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to cosigners on driver's license applications of minors. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 521.145(a), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) The application of an applicant under 18 years of age |
|
|
must be signed by: |
|
|
(1) the parent or guardian who has custody of the |
|
|
applicant or the agent under a power of attorney for the parent who |
|
|
has custody of the applicant; or |
|
|
(2) if the applicant has no parent or guardian: |
|
|
(A) the applicant's employer; or |
|
|
(B) the county judge of the county in which the |
|
|
applicant resides. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
