A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to cosigners on driver's license applications of minors.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 521.145(a), Transportation Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
         (a)  The application of an applicant under 18 years of age
  must be signed by:
               (1)  the parent or guardian who has custody of the
  applicant or the agent under a power of attorney for the parent who
  has custody of the applicant; or
               (2)  if the applicant has no parent or guardian:
                     (A)  the applicant's employer; or
                     (B)  the county judge of the county in which the
  applicant resides.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
