A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to the administration of the practical examination
  required for a barbering or cosmetology license.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 1603.252(a), Occupations Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
         (a)  The department may accept, approve, develop, or
  contract for the examinations required by this chapter, including
  the administration of the examinations.
         SECTION 2.  Section 1603.256(c), Occupations Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
         (c)  The following persons may administer a practical
  examination required under this subchapter:
               (1)  the department; [or]
               (2)  a person with whom the department contracts under
  Section 1603.252; or
               (3)  a barber school, private beauty culture school, or
  a public secondary or postsecondary beauty culture school that is
  approved by the department to administer the examination under
  Section 1603.252.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
