A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to access to information related to investigations by the |
|
|
Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 1004, Transportation Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 1004.003 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 1004.003. CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION RELATED TO |
|
|
INVESTIGATIONS. Except as necessary to comply with Section |
|
|
2301.202, Occupations Code, information obtained during an |
|
|
investigation of a person regulated under Chapter 2301 or 2302, |
|
|
Occupations Code, or Chapter 503 or 643 of this code is confidential |
|
|
and not subject to disclosure under Chapter 552, Government Code, |
|
|
until the investigation is dismissed or finally resolved. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 2301.612, Occupations Code, is repealed. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
