A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the administration of a practical examination by a |
|
junior college or career school or college. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 132, Education Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 132.007 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 132.007. COSMETOLOGY TRAINING PROGRAM; PRACTICAL |
|
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS. (a) A public junior college or career |
|
school or college may administer any practical examination required |
|
by law for the practice of cosmetology. |
|
(b) Notwithstanding any other provision in the law, any |
|
person sitting for a professional exam for the practice of |
|
cosmetology must have completed a minimum of 1,000 hours of |
|
instruction, including a minimum of 150 hours of instruction in |
|
sanitation and safety, in a beauty culture course or in a vocational |
|
cosmetology program in a public school, including a junior college |
|
or career school or college. |

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
