A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the administration of a practical examination by a
  junior college or career school or college.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 132, Education Code, is
  amended by adding Section 132.007 to read as follows:
         Sec. 132.007.  COSMETOLOGY TRAINING PROGRAM; PRACTICAL
  EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS. (a)  A public junior college or career
  school or college may administer any practical examination required
  by law for the practice of cosmetology.
         (b)  Notwithstanding any other provision in the law, any
  person sitting for a professional exam for the practice of
  cosmetology must have completed a minimum of 1,000 hours of
  instruction, including a minimum of 150 hours of instruction in
  sanitation and safety, in a beauty culture course or in a vocational
  cosmetology program in a public school, including a junior college
  or career school or college.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
