A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the creation of an incentive program to fund innovative |
|
|
solutions for clinical education of graduate nurses. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 61, Subchapter Z, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 61.9630 read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 61.9630. GRADUATE NURSING EDUCATION GRANTS. (a) |
|
|
Using funds appropriated for this purpose, and funds returned to |
|
|
the board under Subsection 61.9629(e), the board shall administer a |
|
|
grant program to fund innovative approaches for increasing the |
|
|
availability of clinical education practice sites for graduate |
|
|
nurses. |
|
|
(b) The board shall require a grant recipient to submit |
|
|
periodic reports describing the outcome of the activities funded |
|
|
through the grant. |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
