A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to flood insurance coverage requirements for insurance |
|
|
policies issued by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 2210.203, Insurance Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-2) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-2) Notwithstanding Subsection (a-1), the association may |
|
|
not require as a condition for issuing or renewing an insurance |
|
|
policy for a residential property that the applicant provide |
|
|
evidence that the property is covered by a flood insurance policy. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to an application for initial insurance coverage or a renewal of |
|
|
insurance coverage submitted to the Texas Windstorm Insurance |
|
|
Association on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
